Thai Yoga Massage

Thai massage or Nuad Boran was developed in Thailand over thousands of years blending elements of Massage, Yoga, Ayurveda, Metta (loving kindness) and Vipassana  Meditation. In its essence it is a complex blend of physical, energetic and spiritual healing. It has its root deeply nested in the Indian systems of Yoga and Buddhism and was handed down through the generations not just as a massage but as a spiritual and meditative practice.

Thai Massage is a form of bodywork which, at its highest level, combines a finely-tuned intuition with a thorough understanding of the bodymind. (more…)

Energy pathways

Like other systems of traditional oriental medicine also Thai Massage makes use of a network of invisible channels which forms the subtle energy body of every human being. Thai Yoga massage  makes use of 10 major channels and they are called “sip sen”. Our vital energy – the prana or “lom pran” in Thai language – moves and circulates along these pathways. A blockage in any of these lines may impede the free flow of prana and lead to disharmony on physical, emotional and spiritual levels. The whole purpose of Thai massage is to restore and encourage the free flow of energy throughout the body and mind. (more…)

Meditation

Thai Massage is deeply embedded in the  Buddhist spiritual practice of Vipassana and Metta meditation. Vipassana is a way of self-transformation through self-observation by which we train ourselves to see reality exactly as it is as it happens, and we can call this special way of perception “mindfulness”. This very special way of seeing shall lead us to insight and full understanding of reality and how everything works. The object is to learn attentive listening, total seeing and careful testing, which helps us to develop and shape our intuitive skills in Thai massage. (more…)
